Fitness Regime: After deciding life as a couch-potato was a waste of his time, John Goodman hired personal trainer Mackie Shilstone and started visiting the gym 6 day per week. He does 40 minutes of cardio twice per day on an elliptical machine or recumbent bike (good for people with knee problems like Goodman). He also does strength training with resistance bands and practices boxing twice per week.

Diet Regime: John Goodman has struggled with drugs and alcohol in the past but has worked to give up such bad habits. He usually follows each workout with a homemade protein smoothie (protein powder, whey powder, and fruit). He also eats soy yogurt and drinks soy milk (he’s lactose intolerant.) Fresh veggies and lean protein sources make up much of his diet, but he allows himself the occasional indulgence, such as a hot dog on the Fourth of July. He also stays away from sugar.
